  • 4 oz tequila blanco e.g., Casamigos or Herradura
  • 2 oz fresh lime juice from 2–3 limes
  • 2 oz triple sec or Grand Marnier
  • 1 –2 tbsp simple syrup adjust to taste
  • 2 cups ice for frozen version
  • to taste kosher salt or margarita salt for rimming glasses
  • 1 lime wedge for rimming and garnish
  • 1 strawberry slice optional, for garnish

Instructions

  • Swipe a lime wedge along the edge of two margarita glasses. Dip the edges into a dish of kosher salt or margarita salt to coat evenly.
  • Add 1 cup fresh strawberries, 4 oz tequila blanco, 2 oz fresh lime juice, 2 oz triple sec, 1–2 tbsp simple syrup, and 2 cups ice to a blender.
  • Puree until silky smooth, about 30–45 seconds. Taste and add more simple syrup if desired for extra sweetness.
  • Pour the mixture into the prepared glasses. Garnish with a lime wedge or strawberry slice. Serve immediately.
  • For an on-the-rocks version, combine ingredients (without ice) in a cocktail shaker with a handful of ice. Shake for 15 seconds, strain into salt-rimmed glasses over fresh ice, and garnish

Notes

  • Tips:
    • Use premium tequila blanco (e.g., Espolòn) for a crisp, smooth flavor.
    • Always use fresh limes; store-bought juice lacks vibrant taste.
    • Chill glasses in the fridge for 10 minutes for a frosty effect.
    • If using frozen strawberries, soften briefly and use 1.5 cups ice to avoid dilution.
  • Variations:
    • Virgin Margarita: Substitute tequila and triple sec with 2 oz orange juice and 2 oz carbonated water for a family-friendly drink.
    • Spicy Margarita: Muddle 2–3 jalapeño slices with strawberries before blending for a zesty kick.
    • Party Pitcher: For 8 servings, blend 4 cups strawberries, 16 oz tequila, 8 oz lime juice, 8 oz triple sec, 4–8 tbsp simple syrup, and 8 cups ice.
    • Low-Calorie: Use agave nectar (1 tbsp = ~60 calories) instead of simple syrup and add a dash of club soda, omitting triple sec.
